The defendant said, "Would it help if I send a box of cigars to the judge." "Oh, no! This judge is a sticker or ethical behaviour. A stunt like that would prejudice him against you. He may even hold you in contempt of the court. In fact you should not even smile at the judge." Within the course of time, the judge rendered a decision in favour of the defendant. As the defendant left the courthouse, he said to his lawyer, "Thanks for the tip about the cigars. It works."The lawyer said, "I am sure we would have lost the case if you had sent them.""But I did.""What? You did?" said the lawyer, incredulously."Yes. That is how we won the case.""I don't understand.""It is easy. I sent the cigars to the judge, but enclosed the plaintiff business card."
